Kirkenes offers a whole world of experiences: mountains, fjords, forests, lakes, the “Dark period” when the sun never raises above the horizon (November-January) and the midnight sun (May – July)! Located close to the Russian border, this small town experienced the Russian Revolution of 1917, the Winter-war between Russia and Finland (1939), and total destruction during World War 2.
Arrive in Kirkenes on April 11th, and experience the Polar Regions like you’ve never imagined! Go for a ride on a dog sled on the Norwegian-Russian border: Chase the Northern Lights and enjoy an exclusive dinner in a Sami tent (Lavvo) or in a traditional “Long House”.

A modern city, and a centre of knowledge with a highly respected university, and many popular colleges and a research community ranking among the best in Europe. A wide variety of cultural and recreational activities are represented in Trondheim. The Sagas tells how King Olav Tryggvason of Viking fame founded the city by the mouth of the River Nidelva in 997. It was the frst capital of Norway, and is still the city where new kings receive their ceremonial blessing. Situated by the Trondheim fjord, it is surrounded by lovely forested hills, with the Nidelva River winding through the town. It has been and still is a popular pilgrimage site, an ecclesiastical centre, a regional capital and a centre for commerce and administration. www.trondheim.com
Trondheim is a beautiful city with a rich history, and is also the home of Nidarosdomen Cathedral. Norway’s national sanctuary, built on the grave of St. Olav, the patron saint of Norway. A guide will take you on an exploration of the city by bus, and the ride also includes a visit to “the view point”, where you’ll have the opportunity to admire the city from above. And of course the tour wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Nidarosdomen. Once the tour is over, the shuttle will return to the ship for your convenience.
